Marinas To Receive `How-To' Kits

May 2006 News

Resource kits for 2006 National Marina Day have been mailed and posted online at www.MarinaAssociation.org/nmd. Members of the Association of Marina Industries and cooperating marina members of BoatU.S. were on the mailing lists.

National Marina Day, which will be observed Aug. 12, is produced by the Association of Marina Industries and is an annual nationwide celebration of the marina's role as a gateway to boating.

The resource kit includes:

sample proclamations marina operators can ask local governing bodies to pass in recognition of the day,

a sample press release on the event,

a sample letter to customers about the vital role marinas play in waterfront cities and towns,

    sample radio spots, and

a checklist, outlining the specifics of how to conduct a marina tour for elected officials and policy makers.

"This year's National Marina Day materials represent an effort by AMI to make involvement even easier," said National Marina Day chairman Bill Anderson, of Westrec Marinas. "We are hopeful this will spur greater participation in this important industry event."
