BoatU.S. Angler, a membership organization devoted to safe and worry-free fishing encourages boat-owning anglers to wear life jackets this fishing season. From now until October 31, anglers can submit photos of themselves, friends or family fishing while wearing lifejackets - or even showing off their catch - to enter the "Get Hooked on Safety" contest at http://www.BoatUSAngler.com Four winning photos will be selected and each winner will receive a Mustang inflatable life vest valued at $150. One Mustang life vest will go to the angler with the best fishing story accompanying a photo submission.
"A life jacket helps ensure you'll make it back home safely," said Mike Pellerin, director of BoatU.S. Angler. "Over two-thirds of all fatal boating accident victims drowned, and of those, 87% were not wearing their lifejacket. You just never know when wind, weather, waves or other factors will conspire against you."
Pellerin said the biggest complaint from anglers about wearing a life jacket is that they are uncomfortable. "But if you haven't taken a look at the new inflatable or sports-style vests, you're missing out. You can bait a hook, cast with ease and stay quite comfortable all day long," he added.
In addition to the contest, BoatU.S. Angler will hold random drawings for other prizes including fishing, tackle gear and gift cards. From the nation's largest association of recreational boaters, BoatU.S. Angler's mission is to protect the interests of boat-owning freshwater anglers, increase boating safety, provide consumer assistance and ensure fishing remains worry-free.
