Motors

What do you do if your favorite lake has restrictions and only allows electric motors? No need to fear, there are plenty of great options for you when it comes to electric power. There are a few reasons for restrictions and they are usually based on an environmentally conscious decision or an effort for noise reduction. It is required on plenty of lakes that boats be equipped with an electric motor for these reasons. Here are a few stylish options for boats and electric motors available to help answer this call.

ELCO

Over 100 years of tradition has gone into the construction of each ELCO Electric Launch boat. The Elco 24-foot Classic Fantail Launch is one model that speaks elegance as well as being ecologically friendly. This generously-sized boat can carry up to ten passengers, and is crafted with the warmth and integrity of a fine vintage watercraft. It has mahogany planked decks with white seams and oak cover boards. Mahogany ceiling, oak coaming, sheerstrake and rubrails are more standard construction features.

The hand-laid fiberglass hull with full length keel is another.

Some of the available options are hand-crafted mahogany horseshoe bench seating with custom cushions, a straight aft bench with built-in storage, teak sole, stereo for your listening pleasure, and many luxurious details right down to the mahogany ceiling as well. It is powered by a high efficiency 36-volt, 3hp DC motor and has a solid state electronic controller. It also has continuous forward/reverse throttle. To find out more, log on to

Torqeedo

As more and more inland waters are designated "green" with bans being placed on all gas and diesel engines, boaters require a clean yet powerful form of propulsion. Torqeedo offers one of the most technologically advanced electric outboards on the market. Its powerful Cruise models are a popular option for those on green lakes, delivering the thrust power of a six horsepower gas outboard from just a 24-volt battery bank. Torqeedo motors are efficient too, creating a superior range from a given battery supply.

Based on its popular Cruise models, Torqeedo recently introduced the new Cruise 2.0 R, designed for console-controlled craft like pontoon boats, fishing boats and runabouts. It connects to standard steering systems and includes a remote throttle control, ten-foot cable set and voltage display.

The Torqeedo Cruise 2.0 R is the emission-free, light and quiet alternative for boats with displacement of up to three tons. As with all Torqeedo outboards, the superior overall efficiency of the Cruise 2.0 R is due to the latest motor technology. It offers superior torque and utilizes highly efficient propellers.

This low-maintenance remote electric outboard is just the latest of Torqeedo's contributions to safe and environmentally responsible boating, without sacrificing power. The company burst onto the scene in 2006 and has since won international accolades and innovation awards. For more information call 847-726-0054 or visit www.torqeedo.com.
