PDB TESTED No. 59 - Extreme Marine Products Pontoon Rod Holders

March 2011 News

This is simply a case of not knowing what I had until my summer was nearly over. If you go on eBay you'll find plenty of good accessories from Extreme Marine Products and this is where I found the Pontoon Rod Holder and the Adjustable Pontoon Rod Holder. Once I got them off eBay I was all set to do a product test on them.

Unfortunately I ended up putting them in my closet at work and the only time I'd think about them is when I'd be out fishing-wishing I had them. If I had known how easy it was to "install" them and how effective they were, I wouldn't have wasted most of my summer without them.

After countless fishing trips I finally remembered to bring them a long to "test" or at least that's what I tell my boss when I want to go fishing. My only regret is not getting to them sooner and that's something that won't happen again.

No screws needed, just a very simple installation and you're ready to go. Plus both rod holders won't scratch your rails, which is only one of the reasons why these have become so popular around the country. The pontoon that I tested them on has inch and a quarter rails and it wasn't a problem at all for the adjustable version that ranges from three-quarters of an inch to four and a half inches!

The heavy-duty adjustable fishing rod holder is made of high-quality materials that are electro-plated with pure zinc that will keep it shinning for a long time. The adjustable holder can rotate a full 360 degrees and with the carriage bolts that are included, the assembly is so simple that it can be left on or easily taken off between fishing trips. This setup will clamp down on any wood rails, boat dock railing, deck rails, pontoon rails, round pipe rails and more, plus it can go on vertical or horizontal surfaces.

The non-adjustable pontoon rod is just as effective and made of high-quality materials as the adjustable one. Both are priced quite reasonable with the non-adjustable being priced at $12.95 and the adjustable going for $14.95, which are the "Buy It Now" prices on eBay.

Since the test, Extreme Marine Products has added a rod holder with a unique cam-lock system, which offers the industries' first tool-less application. Now taking the rod holder off and on just got even easier and at $24.95 you can find other uses for it-including portable fishfinder units. Besides, these might be the most cost-effective and convenient items you purchase for your boat. Extreme Marine Products website is worthy of a closer look-and not just for rod holders either-you should see its cover systems!
