Local fishing and sightseeing charter captains from Sunshine Tours and Rose Marina teamed up to clean up Keewaydin Island on Tuesday morning.

"Rose Marina donated a 22-foot pontoon boat and fuel to two charter captains who wanted to clean up Keewaydin following this past weekend's festivities on popular boater beach at the southern tip of Keewaydin Island," said Dan High of Rose Marina.

Scott McConnell, a captain for Sunshine Tours on Marco Island, and Alex Garland returned with various sacks of cans and debris recovered from the island.

McConnell said the debris was left after May 14's Great Dock Canoe Race that launched from Naples.|topnews|text|Home
