Premier Marine plans to add jobs

November 2011 News

Pontoon builder Premier Marine announced plans at its annual dealer meeting to hire more production employees for its Palm Beach and Weeres lines in response to high sales.

"Even in a tough economy it's great to see that companies producing quality, well-designed products can buck the trends," Palm Beach/Weeres vice president Tom Menne said in a statement.

"With our newly designed model lineups for both Palm Beach and Weeres, dealers were eager to place orders. And with hundreds of orders now in house we'll keep the factory running at full capacity through the winter and will need to hire more production workers," he added.

The company employs about 40 and plans to hire 15 people during the next two to three weeks, officials told Soundings Trade Only.

More than 50 dealers from across the country attended the three-day meeting, which concluded Oct. 24. It was held at the company's headquarters in New Ulm, Minn.

The Weeres and Palm Beach brands were purchased in July by Premier Marine and operate as independent businesses out of their facility in New Ulm. The Premier and Leisure brands operate independently out of their headquarters in Wyoming, Minn.

Palm Beach and Weeres retained their names, but are wholly owned subsidiaries of Premier Marine.
