New boat tour business for Exeter?

February 2012 News

A man who wants to offer boat tours of the Squamscott River wants town officials to amend current rules to allow him to do it.

Keith Noyes recently wrote a letter to town officials asking to use the town dock near Swasey Parkway to load and unload passengers into a pontoon boat that would offer tours of the Squamscott River and Great Bay Estuary.

Currently, the dock cannot be used for commercial operations like these.

"The town dock has been very much underutilized and this ... would be a good thing for the town," Noyes wrote, adding he's spoken with "a number" or residents that would like to see the operation come to fruition.

Noyes said he has a mooring in Exeter from which he could anchor the boat, which would carry a maximum of eight people at a time. He would call his business "Great Bay Tours & Charters."

Selectmen will review the request at their meeting Monday night and likely act on the request at a future meeting.

Noyes' letter can be found to the right under "PHOTOS."
