What's being unwrapped for the Grand Rapids Boat Show

February 2012 News

GRAND RAPIDS -- A steady stream of shrink-wrapped boats slid into the DeVos Place garage today. Pontoons, Ski boats, Deck boats, Wave Runners and even a Sealegs Amphibious Marine craft were hosed off, polished and wheeled into place.

The 2012 Grand Rapids Boat Showwill run Wednesday-Sunday and is open to the public. Tickets are $9 for adults and $4 for children. Ages 5 and younger get in for free.

Russ Veldkamp of Premier Motorsports has a new line of Pontoon boats at the show this year, the Xcursion line.

"This is our make it or break it time," Veldkamp said. "We generate a lot of our sales out of here."

Joe Verschueren of Babbitt's Sports Center said he has been looking forward to the show. "By this time of year, folks are usually tired of winter," he said. "They're ready to think about summer."
