Pontoon-Specific Engines?

July 2013 News PDB Staff Report

BRP today unveiled four new Evinrude E-TEC engines-three of which are part of a new line specifically targeting the pontoon market-and updated the look of the entire E-TEC engine lineup, including new graphics and additional graphite color models.

One of the new engines is the Evinrude E-TEC 90 H.O., the newest horsepower available in the Evinrude E-TEC High Output Series. The other three engines are part of a new lineup called the Evinrude E-TEC Pontoon Series.

"BRP's Evinrude brand is always looking for new ways to enhance the consumer's experience on the water, and we've just raised the bar with these new models," says BRP Marine Propulsion Systems division VP and general manager Alain Villemure. "No other outboard manufacturer produces pontoon-specific engines. This is just another example of BRP's innovative mindset and desire to uphold its reputation as the industry leader in developing new technologies."

Tailored to meet the needs of pontoon owners, Evinrude E-TEC Pontoon Series outboards are available in 90-, 115- and 150-hp options. The 90-hp engine comes in two models-the E90SL and E90SNL-which are geared for midsize-to-larger pontoon applications.

"With all the growth in the pontoon industry lately, it's great to see an engine manufacturer recognizing the need to build a specific engine for our segment," says PDB Editor Brady Kay. "It's an exciting time to be in the pontoon industry."

BRP's Evinrude engine lineup ranges from 3.5- to 300 horsepower, for more information visit http://www.evinrudenation.com/.
