Greatness On The Water

If you find yourself taking off from a slip at Smith’s Marina in Crownsville, Md., you might run into Eric Anderson and his wife, Roberta, and their Sea Ray 240 Sundeck. Anderson picked up the 240 Sundeck as his first boat at a boat show in Baltimore, where they met with Ed Baldwin from MarineMax in Joppa, Md.

“My wife and I did our research and had a rough idea of what we were looking for,” says Eric. “We met with Ed and he showed us a lot of different Sea Ray models that were available. We walked down, checking each of them out until we saw the 240. We loved the boat and bought the same one on display.”

The incredible amenities that the 240 boasted were prevalent enough to be the perfect purchase for the Andersons. When Eric and Roberta took the 240 from the show, the boat came with only the standard features which, coincidentally enough, wer everything that the couple were looking for. The only thing Eric had on his wish list was a GPS system, which MarineMax gladly helped him with. Since the boat made its way from the show to the slip in Smith’s Marina, the family has spent more than 40 engine hours cruising through the water, which in his circle of boating neighbors, is a lot. From fishing, crabbing and just plain old fun in the sun, Eric and his family have absolutely enjoyed every possible minute on their new Sea Ray.

“We’ll drop crap traps, cruise around for a while, maybe even spend some time fishing, go back and pick up the traps, then do it all over again,” says Eric.

Extended Family

Picking up the 240 in the spring has given the family an entire boating season to enjoy time on the water with friends and relatives.

Eric frequently hosts the in-laws and friends to a day of cruising, but when everyone else has had their fill and gone home Eric, Roberta and their 5-year-old son, Joshua, still save room for some personal family time.

“I think my wife drives the boat just as much as I do,” says Eric. “When we get out to safer water, I even let my son have some time behind the wheel. He absolutely loves it. We have some tubes on the way, and it won’t be long before I have to put a tow bar for wakeboarding.”

Pushing The Limits

Along with all of the amazing daytime cruising, the family has also spent some time on the water in the hauntingly beautiful hours of the night. On occasion, they have even pushed the limit of what the boat can do.

“I generally keep the boat steady at 10 to 15 knots, but I really wanted to see what it could do and pushed it to 30,” says Eric. “This boat really is a lot of fun.”

Eric's experience with his new 240 Sundeck has proven that Sea Ray has once again made a remarkable deck boat with an unlimited potential to thrill and create amazing boating opportunities for anyone with the urge to get on the water. Whether fishing, hosting a party or simply cruising around for an amazing day of summer fun, Sea Ray's 240 Sundeck will assuredly provide ample satisfaction for any occasion. For Eric and his family, they found the perfect boat to enjoy every moment, day or night.
