Gumbopalooza

October 2013 Industry

On November 16th 2013, Fishing Florida Radio will host the third annual Central Florida Gumbo Cook-Off, aka Gumbopalooza in Orlando, Fla. This event benefits Give Kids The World, Anglers for Conservation and other local charities.

This cook-off raises money for fishing tackle, rods and reels for the young children who are in Orlando, Fla., spending time at the Give Kids The World Village, all whom have life threatening diseases. Over twenty five teams will be competing this year to be either the public winner or judges winner.

Over the past two years, Fishing Florida Radio and sponsors have raised over $25,000 to help introduce children to the amazing outdoors and fishing. Give Kids The World is a nonprofit organization that brings special families to Orlando for a glorious vacation. These families are able to enjoy the local theme parks and are provided a memorable, magical, cost-free experience. Give Kids The World has welcomed over 122,000 families from all 50 states and over 74 countries. The children have the opportunity to go fishing while visiting. Volunteers regularly take these children out with new equipment that has been purchased through donations and silent auctions held during Gumbopalooza.

"There is nothing like your first catch," says co-host of Fishing Florida Radio Captain Mike Ortego. "There's nothing like going out with your family, catching fish and the smile on the faces of these children."

This years' Gumbopalooza is bigger and better than ever with bigger stage for entertainment, amazing sound circling the event and a jumbo 20`x20' TV. There will be sponsors and Give Kids The World commercials running while over 2,000 plus people eating and tasting all the gumbo they would like.

Fishing Florida Radio will be holding a Kids Fishing Festival with association with Anglers for Conservation and the Fish Florida to introduce over 200 children to the outdoors. These children will receive a free rod and reel after attending the five courses before the event starts.

Fishing Florida Radio is currently looking for sponsors and donations for their silent auction. If you are interested in donating to this amazing cause, please email steve@fishingfloridaradio.com. All proceeds are given back to Give Kids The World, Anglers for Conservation and other local charities. For more information about Gumbopalooza, please check out www.gumbopalooza.com.
