Motorola-Two-Way Radios

We've become so dependent on our cell phones these days that despite our attempts to "leave it all behind" when we go boating, we tend to stress over the lack of a cell signal. While permanent radios are common on larger vessels, most pontoon and deck boats aren't equipped with them. That's why the new hand-held two-way radios from Motorola are such a great fit for our trailerable boats.

The Motorola Talkabout MS350R radios are ideal when you're out of cell phone range and trying to stay connected to the group. The feature that caught my attention is the range: up to 35 miles! Plus a big selling point for boaters is these radios are completely waterproof and they float. Other key features include eight repeater channels, LED flashlight and seven NOAA weather channels and alerts. All this with a suggested retail price of $99.99 for the set, which is a great value considering all of the safety features.

I was so excited to try them out that I used them on the drive to the lake to communicate with our friends in another vehicle. And on the water when we got out of cell range, everyone in our group was interested in trying them out then of course. They work great and I feel safer just having one onboard.
