Here's some background on LSU Engineer aka Walter.

1. What kind of boat do you currently own?

We have a Starcraft 20CL with a 90hp Mercury 4-stroke

2. What is your favorite thing about it?

Our favorite thing about it is that we live on the water, and our boat is just always just outside our back door! It is very convenient to take it out on a whim, whether to go on an evening cruise with friends, or to go to one of our favorite local restaurants.

3. What is your dream boat?

I would really like to have a double-decker pontoon with an enclosed (air conditioned!) cabin. We love our 12-month boating season, but the summers are really hot!

4. Share a fun/exciting boating memory:

The only one that comes to mind was when we first got the boat, we took my wife's parents out for a Sunday cruise with some other friends. We really wanted to make a good impression, but it was a disaster! We nearly ran out of gas in the middle of an alligator infested swamp, and then a thunderstorm came up and drenched all of us! Hopefully now that we have more experience we can get them to come back again!

5. What is the must have boating accessory?

Where we go, a depth finder is a must-have. Between the tides, fluctuating river stages and fallen trees, you can't ever rely on water depth being the same from one trip to the next.

6. How long have you been boating?

All of my life - I have 7 siblings and our dad was a real boating enthusiast.

7. Where do you typically boat?

We boat in the swamps and bayous of southeast Louisiana, in the general area of the Amite River and Lake Maurepas. Our favorite thing is to get away from the higher traffic areas and explore tiny little bayous where nobody goes.

8. What part of the country has the best boating?

I don't think there is a best overall - every area of the country has something to offer, and it would really depend on the season. However, in early spring and late fall, there would be few places as pleasant as the Louisiana gulf coast!
