Waterproof Phone Case
I can’t tell a lie. When the Seidio OBEX iPhone case showed up in the office, people’s phones started disappearing off their desks. I later found out that our marketing director sent out a warning email to our staff, letting them know I would be on the hunt for an iPhone 5 that I could fully submerge in water. The OBEX is a phone case designed to be completely waterproof as well as impact- and dust-proof. The built-in screen guard offers complete scratch protection without interfering with the touch screen, and the waterproof membrane allows sound to travel through without distortion while preventing dust and water from entering. It’s available for the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S III.
Since none of my co-workers trusted me to use their phones and I’m not cool enough to own an iPhone 5 myself, I had to wait for an opportunity to present itself. So when our sales rep left for lunch in a hurry, I submerged his phone in a cup of water on my desk for an hour. Was he a little grouchy when he got back? Sure. But was it my fault he left it behind? No.
He had no reason to worry though. It was completely dry. This case works, just like they promise. My office experiment gave my husband enough faith to use the case and dunk his new iPhone 5 in the river. We held it in the water for 60 seconds. When we pulled it out, the phone was completely dry. Read the instructions to make sure you close it correctly, but after that, your expensive electronic will live to see another day if it accidently takes a tumble in the water.
The OBEX case is $79.95 but you can get a combo (which includes a holster) for $89.95.
