West Marine Huahine 7 x 50 Binoculars: PDB TESTED No. 180

October 2015 PDB Tested Roy Sparks

When you need a boating product, the best place to start is West Marine and I’m not just talking about the many store locations this retail giant offers from coast-to-coast. The West Marine website has helped me out more times than I can count, so when I went on the hunt for a set of binoculars at a decent price, I knew exactly where to look.

Some things are worth paying more for, but personally I don’t think binoculars are necessarily one of them. Yes there are more expensive versions available that include a compass, lights and other features, but for my needs the $89.99 Huahine binoculars from West Marine made the most sense. I wanted something for my boat that I could just keep under the seat that would be there when I needed it. The Huahine binoculars are durable so I wasn’t worried about them banging around and becoming damaged, although I didn’t go out of my way to abuse them either.

Now keep in mind these aren’t waterproof, so it will be up to you to keep them dry if you plan on having them for more than a season. Weighing in at just 32 ounces, I like that even smaller children can enjoy using them and they now have a permanent place on my pontoon.
