Snap-Tool Multi-Key: PDB TESTED No. 226

August 2018 Feature Brady L. Kay

A deck plate key with attitude! The latest product from Davis Instruments has earned too many awards to ignore. After earning an NMMA Innovation Award last year I just had to take a closer look so I picked one up.

The California-based company’s innovative tool is made of hardened stainless steel and was truly made for boaters. Aside from its shackle and two deck plate keys, it features a button snapper and un-snapper, and a zipper pull.

The tool that fits in most pockets has slotted and Phillips head screw drivers, four hex wrenches, a scraper, a cutting blade for fishing line or Paracord, and of course a bottle opener or, as some people like to call it, a “church key.”

Just to be able to easily un-snap my pontoon cover with this tool easily justifies the $12.99 price tag. There is also a pin shackle key, which tightens or loosens pins on most galvanized anchor shackles and stainless steel pin shackles. Simply put, this multi-tool can do it all.
