Scholarship Success

August 2006 News

The Southern California Marine Association honored the winners of its annual scholarship program during the opening ceremonies of the Spring Boat Show held in Pomona this summer.

Rebecca Bense of Folsom, Calif., Ian Dinsmore of Santa Monica, Calif., and Krista Knecht of Northridge, Calif., were presented with $2,500 cash to be used for their higher-education pursuits.

"I continue to be amazed at the accomplishments of these students, both on an academic level and through their generous community service efforts," said SCMA scholarship chairperson Marie Schock, in a statement.

The scholarship program was created in 2004 to provide educational assistance to worthy children of SCMA members. Applicants must display excellence in scholastic track records, a dedication to higher education and a generous involvement and interest in their communities. Recipients are decided by recommendations from an outside committee of local, independent teachers.
