California Examining Non-Motorized Boating

December 2006 News

The California Department of Boating and Waterways is conducting a study of non-motorized boating in California because it is considering providing more support to this sport.

DBW wants to know the number of non-motorized boaters in its state, the kinds of boats they own, and where and why boaters participate in this type of recreation.

The results of this study also will help the department understand how non-motorized boating impacts the state's economy.

DBW is a state agency whose mission is to provide safe and convenient access to California's public waterways. A major focus for DBW is to provide grants and loans for launch ramps and marinas.

The survey is available on the Web at: http://www.dbw.ca.gov.
