Godfrey moves Polar operations to Illinois

July 2007 News

Godfrey Marine will move the manufacturing operations for its Polar fiberglass fishing boats this weekend from Vinemont, Ala., to an existing plant in Benton, Ill.

The move brings Polar's design, engineering and manufacturing operations into Godfrey Marine's Hurricane brand fiberglass deck boat plant.

"This move to a larger facility with available capacity will allow us to achieve significant operating efficiencies in a very competitive marine environment," said CEO Bob Moran, in a statement.

"It will also allow us to dedicate an expanded design/engineering effort towards both brands, and better support the product and marketing," he added. "We believe that this will result in even greater improvements to our industry-leading standard of quality in marine design and manufacturing."

Headquartered in Elkhart, Ind., Godfrey Marine operates manufacturing plants in Elkhart and Syracuse, Ind., as well as Benton. Polar produces fiberglass fishing boats with bay boat, center and dual console, and walk-around models.
