Gearing up for safety

Published in the August 2008 Issue August 2008

When you have small children, purchasing safety equipment such as stair gates, cabinet locks and car seats are a given. You wouldn't dare take unreasonable risks and let something bad happen to your kids when it was completely avoidable. The question is, do you take the same amount of care when you go boating? Boating is a fun pastime, but much like any other activity that takes place outside of your house, there are certain safety precautions you need to take to make sure everyone remains reasonably safe. If the only safety equipment you have is an outdated first aid kit, you ought to pay close attention. Here is some safety equipment that can help you be prepared for emergencies that may interrupt your fun weekend. All of these products can be purchased through West Marine.
