Gelcoat, resin prices go up again

August 2008 News

This is in addition to the price increases announced recently. On June 6, the Kansas City, Mo.-based company announced a 10 cent per pound price increase for all unsaturated polyester and vinylester resins, and an increase of 12 cents per pound for gelcoat products.

Increases in steel, raw materials and energy dictate the need for additional price increases for the manufacture, packaging and shipment of CCP's gelcoats, unsaturated polyester and vinylester resins, according to the company.

"These critical resources remain volatile and require us to pass on these advances to our customers," CCP said in a statement.

Additionally, rising transportation fees for the shipment of both raw materials and finished goods, coupled with increasing crude oil and fuel surcharges continue to affect the industry.

CCP says it is "doing everything within our power to contain" rising costs. "CCP acknowledges the impact these costs have on our customers, but unfortunately do not anticipate relief in the foreseeable future," the company said.
