Wiley X- New Models

Published in the September 2008 Issue September 2008

Word on the street is the new Street Series line of women's eyewear from Wiley X is tough to beat. After a few "friendly reminders" from our female readers that we need to do more than just review sunglasses for men, we decided to look into this new line. Specially developed to combine fashionable design, comfortable fit and superior eye protection for women, Wiley X has released four new models. The new styles all have a variety of eye-catching frame/lens combinations and so I enlisted the help from the ladies in our building and they selected the Wiley X Dalila with the Gloss Green Tea frame and smoke lenses, to review.

Our fashion-conscious office didn't let me down as we were all pleased when the sunglasses arrived. Not only is this pair fashionable, but I especially like the durability. The Wiley X website states the frames are built from lightweight TR90 Grilamid, which doesn't tell me a lot, but it sounds good. And those who tried them on said they fit better than their favorite pair of jeans. The impact-resistant, scratch-resistant lenses are also solid and provide 100 percent UVA and UVB protection.

Rated by the women in my office, the Dalila sunglasses earned top praise for style and design. And it's hard not to give the function rating a top score when the lenses far exceed the stringent ANSI Z87.1 safety and ANSI Z80.3 optical standards. You pay for quality and I believe your eyes are worth the investment. With a retail price of $100, this is a good, dependable option for women boaters looking for fashionable and dependable eyewear. And guys, just in case you're wondering, yes, there is a Men's Street Series that is worth checking out as well.
