`i-Discovered Boating' Video/Photo Contest

 CHICAGO (May 20, 2009) - Discover Boating, the recreational boating industry's national awareness campaign, announced today an amateur video and photo contest,i-Discovered Boating, designed to showcase Americans' love of the boating lifestyle.

 

WHAT:            Boaters across the U.S. are encouraged to submit videos and photos illustrating how they `Discovered Boating' for a chance to win up to $10,000 and to have their creation featured in a national advertising campaign for Discover Boating.

 

WHEN:            Boating enthusiasts looking to take part in the i-Discovered Boating contest can view rules and submit video and photo entries atDiscoverBoating.com beginning May 25. All entries must be received by June 30, 2009. Winners will be unveiled via DiscoverBoating.com on July 15, 2009.

 

WHY:               Why do you boat? Some say a picture (or video) is worth a thousand words . now let's get out on the water and prove it. Capture your kids' laughter while tubing, the excitement of a friend's big catch or how an afternoon anchored in a favorite cove with family and friends epitomizes why life is better with a boat.

 

HOW:              Take photos and/or videos of your next boating adventure to share online. Visit DiscoverBoating.com for samples of past ads and video files that can be incorporated into your entries, as well as the latest contest posts from fellow boaters.  

 

"Every boater has a personal story on why they take to the water, whether it's a favorite family pastime, stress relief from the life on land or just the feeling of wind in their hair. It's these personal experiences that drive an estimated 70 million Americans to go boating each year," says Carl Blackwell, spokesman for Discover Boating. "We hope to spread this passion for the boating lifestyle by providing a forum for boaters to share their unique perspective of how they discovered boating."
