Social media helping iboats.com traffic

March 2010 News

Reporting increasingly strong interest in its online social network, iboats.com officials said they recently passed the 200,000-member mark.

The current membership is 200,810.

The company further reported that its Internet traffic grew by 32 percent in 2009 compared to 2008. Through mid-March, traffic had grown another 19 percent.

"While boaters may not have bought as many new boats recently as we hoped for, boaters certainly continue to use their existing boats," iboats.com chief executive Bruno Vassel III said in a statement. "Our online parts and accessories business increased by a very healthy 30 percent last year over 2008, and this year's P&A sales in March are up an even greater percentage over last year's strong numbers."
