Florida boating group wins tourism award

September 2011 News

Florida By Water, a group formed to promote experiencing the state by boat, was awarded the Flagler Award for "Best in Show" (under $100,000 category) from Visit Florida, the state's tourism bureau.

The award was presented during the 44th annual Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism, which was held Sept. 25-27 at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Fla.

Florida By Water was created by boating enthusiast Rusty Gardner, whose site is a growing compilation of information about boat ramps, restaurants and marinas along the state's waterways.

Named for tycoon and real estate developer Henry Flagler, the Flagler Awards were established in 2000 to recognize outstanding tourism marketing in Florida.
