Fort Lauderdale show rolls out new app

September 2011 News

Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show organizers announced the debut of MyBoatShow, the new smart phone app that will officially launch at this year's show.

The free app, available on iPhone and Android platforms, is designed to help people navigate the show's docks, land areas and tents. Attendees will be able to access show maps and search for exhibitors, manufacturers, product categories and boats by specifications and size.

The app, which will be available for all Show Management-produced boat shows, also will provide the show schedule, seminar information, show transportation schedules and maps, food and drink locations, restroom locations and emergency services.

"We have many great show enhancements planned for this year's show to assist attendees and exhibitors in making their way around the largest boat show in the world," Dane Graziano, senior vice president of Show Management, said in a statement. "The MyBoatShow app is fast and user-friendly and will revolutionize boat show navigation."

The show, which runs Oct. 27-31, spans six sites this year and will feature more than $3 billion worth of boats, yachts, superyachts, electronics and engines, and thousands of boating accessories from every major marine manufacturer and boatbuilder across the globe, as well as exotic cars, clothing and jewelry.

Show organizers also announced that a block party - Boat Show Night Out - is set for 6-10 p.m. Oct. 19 in Esplanade Park on Second Street in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

The free, open-to-the-public event, set a week before the 52nd annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show opens, will feature live country music, DJs and more than 20 gourmet food trucks against a yacht-lined New River backdrop.

All event proceeds will be donated to Riverwalk Trust.

"We want to get the community revved up for the world's largest boat show, taking place right here in our own backyard," Graziano said in a statement. "This event is a fun way to give back to the community that has graciously hosted us for more than 50 years."
