French builder debuts electric boat at Paris show

December 2011 News

French boatbuilder Rhea Marine partnered with ReGen Nautic USA in the installation of an all-electric propulsion system currently on display at the Paris Boat Show.

Designed and shipped by ReGen Nautic to Rhea Marine, the hybrid system was installed in Rhea's 850 model and has been receiving tremendous interest from the public during the boat show, the boatbuilder said.

The first hybrid vessel for Rhea Marine can run for as long as six hours on battery power alone and is able to reach a top speed of 25 knots by combining the on-board generator and the battery.

Fort Lauderdale-based ReGen Nautic USA has developed hybrid electric propulsion systems for yachts, trawlers and sailboats over 50 feet.
