PDB Tested: Knot-a-bag

November 2012 PDB Tested Brady L. Kay

I'm constantly amazed by the number of boats that are being manufactured today that don't come with some type of trash receptacle. Anyone that has ever spent any amount of time on the water understands the importance of having a place to store your garbage. Sure it's ideal for keeping your boat clean, but it also keeps cans, wrappers and other papers from blowing out and polluting the water.

So when I heard about the portable bag dispenser from Davis Instruments I just had to give it a try. The Knot-a-Bag container is only four inches tall, yet holds over 32 feet of tightly wound polyethylene film. The multipurpose bags are thick enough to keep odors from pets, wet items and garbage from escaping, and waterproof so food or clothing remains safe from any leaking liquids.

I found that it also works great for belongings as well as carrying lunch. The bags can be created in any length and have a circumference of 24-inches. The built-in safety cutter trims the bag to your desired size.

The clip isn't really practical because it tends to pop the lid off the dispenser if you apply too much pressure, but because it's so small it can store just about anywhere on your boat. Visit http://www.knotabag.com for more info.
