State To State Boating Laws

Published in the April 2013 Issue April 2013 News

New state and local boating laws, regulations and policy changes have taken effect in the United States for 2013. Knowing these new changes in the law is the first thing boaters should know before setting sail this year. The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) offers information on boating laws and policies for recreational boating safety for each of the 50 states and U.S. territories. Law enforcement accepts no excuses for not knowing and applying new laws and policies when on the water and urges boaters to take advantage of informational resources being offered.

Sea Tow International, Inc. and the Sea Tow Foundation urge boaters to keep in mind that new changes to the law and policies are not universal and they may vary from state to state and the laws that encompass their home may be different in any other state they may ship off in.

It is paramount to make sure that you polish your understanding of recreational boating laws and policies to ensure a safe, stress-free season on the water. (www.nasbla.org)
