Getting Children The Correct Life Jacket

May 2013 News

The BoatUS Foundation stresses the importance of making sure children have the proper fitting life jacket before they get out on the water. Unlike buying shoes that kids will grow into, buying a properly fitting life jacket can prevent tragedy.

Kids' life jackets come in three sizes that include infant, child and youth sizes. These sizes should be closely examined and the correct jacket should also be US Coast Guard approved to ensure maximum protection. BoatUS has provided a Kids' Life Jacket Loaner Program at 530 locations where life jackets may be borrowed for boating excursions and will provide the correct size jacket to ensure the child's safety.
