Taking The Checkered

What started out as a just-for-fun affair has turned into a competitive race for manufacturers and it's serious business these days. Even if you aren't competing, it's fun to watch because these boats are driven by experts who know how to make a pontoon move.

PDB's annual McKainer Barrel Race was held on Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, Ind., and the action didn't disappoint. The industry event was sponsored by Evinrude, Honda and Mercury, who make some of the best outboards in the business.
