Bennington

August 2014 News Web Exclusive

PDB magazine wants to share the news that Torqeedo, maker of electric marine engines, will now have its Cruise 4.0 motor and lithium-ion batteries powering Bennington's new Electric Series of pontoon boats. Their environmentally conscious 9.9 hp equivalent Cruise motor drives Bennington's S-Series 20- to 24-foot pontoon boats.

Todd Meier, Bennington's VP of Sales and Engine Operations, explains the motivation behind the upgrade. "Our customers have been asking for an electric power offering and Torqeedo motors provides a clean, quiet and powerful solution for our pontoon enthusiasts,” he says. "The Electric Series will bring unrivaled efficiency, access and ease-of-use to our customers."

Steve Trkla, President of Torqeedo, points out, "There are thousands of electric-only or horsepower-restricted waters in the United States, and that number steadily rises each year.” Because of this, people were only able to explore these waters by manpowered craft like kayak or canoe. But Steve explains the beauty behind their new upgrade:  “Because Torqeedo outboards don't pollute the air or water, they are welcome on restricted waters."

Thanks to these engine changes, new pontooning horizons abound. We at PDB magazine can only encourage our boat-loving readers to start planning your next ‘tooning trip in uncharted waters with a newer, cleaner motor to get you there.
