Mojo Refuel Aqua: PDB Tested No. 158

February 2015 PDB Tested Roy Sparks

For those who just can’t leave their iPhones at home while on the water, battery power and extra protection is a must.

The Refuel Aqua from ibattz is the first waterproof charging case that protects the iPhone 5/5S underwater up to 10 feet deep. We’ve seen charging cases before, but none that are also waterproof, so this is a great feature for boaters.

Refuel Aqua is rated at the highest waterproof rating (IPX8) and designed around a removable, high-capactity 2200mAh battery. The Refuel Aqua includes a silver bumper, which allows users to switch to a lightweight charging case when the extra protection isn't needed. For me this is a better option because I don’t always take my phone with me when I boat, but I love having the extra battery life at all times. Worth noting, I can completely use my iPhone when it’s in the protective case and that includes everything from the touch screen and headphone jack to making and receiving phone calls.

Sold separately is the Mojo Refuel USB Charging kit. The case and charger work together, but the charger isn’t specific to just this case. The external USB battery module is a charger for any Refuel Battery case, including the Refuel Aqua. It's a standalone charger that allows you to charge your battery unit independently, or it can change other smart phones/tablets itself. The charge kit is compatible with I9500 S4 AND I9300 S3 battery units.

The Refuel Aqua Battery Case retails for $119.95 and the Mojo Refuel USB Charger Kit goes for $29.95. At this price it is an investment, but just being able to charge your iPhone on the go—including on the water—can be considered priceless at times.
