Mustang Survival Issues PFD Recall

October 2015 Industry, News Web Exclusive

Mustang Survival has announced the recall of two models from their line of personal flotation devices. The PFDs in question were manufactured in Canada between September 2014 and September 2015 and come with model numbers that begin with either MD315 (the Canadian variant) or MD318 (the U.S. model).

The issue with the vests arises from a portion of the bladder assembly that can tear when the fully-inflated vests are flexed at the bladder lobes. According to Mustang, “No other Mustang Survival products are affected as they utilize different bladder assemblies or have been originally produced with the required reinforcement.”

Check your inventory and go to www.mustangsurvival.com/advisories to see if your jackets are affected. If you find that your PFDs are affected, contact Mustang’s customer service department at 1-800-526-0532 between 7:30am and 4:30pm PST, Monday through Friday to arrange specific shipping instructions. Defective devices should not be returned to the store from which they were purchased, but should be handled by Mustang directly.
