NYNE Aqua Waterproof Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker: PDB TESTED No. 181

October 2015 PDB Tested Brady L. Kay

Sink or swim? This was our thought as we stood over the side of the boat and decided to toss the NYNE Aqua speaker into the lake. Looking back now, it probably would have been a better idea to test it first to make sure it really did float, but what fun would that be? Lucky for us the waterproof Aqua speaker did just fine. And with a 33-foot Bluetooth connectivity range, it truly is an ideal fit for boaters—especially those who love to listen to music at the sandbars.

Complete with a built-in microphone and a 10-hour lifetime on the rechargeable battery, we were impressed by the clarity as well as its durability. Priced at $129.95 and available in two different color combinations, it can be safely submersed in three feet of water for up to 30 minutes, but we didn’t see the point of trying to sink it. Besides, wouldn’t it be harder to hear your tunes if the speaker was three feet under water?

It measures approximately 9.6 inches wide by 5.3 inches tall by 2 inches deep. Simply put, it’s large enough to produce great sound quality yet small enough to easily store on your boat.
