For the previous 55 years, lowering or raising a canvas top on our many assorted and past conventional boats was never an issue for us. A quick flip of a lightweight canvas attached to a couple of light aluminum tubes and then securing and snugging up a couple of adjustable canvas straps was all that was required for a day of under-the-shade boating. On the first season of having our new 21-foot three-logged pontoon boat [LOONEY TOONS], my wife Sandy and I noticed that the supplied OEM Bimini top with heavy hinged braces and potentially crushing hinges could easily remove a stray finger if we weren’t careful. Along with it came a bulky and large intricate canvas making the whole thing a big issue for us “older boaters” to erect and lower.
