WI-FI/4G LTE Antenna Keeps Pontooners Connected

April 2018 Feature

Winegard Marine has introduced an affordable, easy-to-use and versatile marine antenna that provides boaters with secure, simple and dependable Internet connectivity wherever they go.

The American-made Winegard ConnecT™ WF-200M antenna combines a long-range, high-performance WI-FI signal extender with built-in nationwide 4G LTE cellular. This means boaters can enjoy uninterrupted coverage as they surf the web, stream entertainment and stay connected with friends and family, whether they are relaxing in the marina or out on the water fishing, sailing, cruising the ICW, or spending the summer taking the Great Loop Route. It is also an ideal choice for owners of pontoon boats and deck boats who spend time on remote lakes and inland waterways across the country.

The ConnecT WF-200M accesses and boosts available shore-side WI-FI signals for improved WI-FI access, signal strength and reliability. This makes it an ideal solution for boaters wishing to stream entertainment to onboard laptops, tablets or other devices while they relax in a marina or seaside resort, share vacation photos with envious friends or even touch base with the office. When on the move or out of range of WI-FI, a simple click allows the WF-200M to keep boaters connected using Winegard’s nationwide 4G LTE coverage.

In addition to keeping boaters informed and entertained, the WF-200M makes it easy for boaters to download software updates for WI-FI enabled marine electronics, obtain the latest weather and Sea Surface Temperature (SST) data, update their electronic charts, and perform other important functions.

The WF-200M is designed and manufactured in Winegard’s Burlington, Iowa facility to meet the performance and durability needs of serious mariners. It utilizes Power Over Ethernet (POE) and offers streamlined installation/setup with a single Ethernet cable.

Winegard’s proven dome design has been rigorously tested to withstand the harsh marine environment. To accommodate a variety of vessels types and styles, the WF-2000 includes a mounting pedestal that allows for level installation on flat to 30-degree slopes; it can also be mounted using any 1-inch, 14-thread extension pole. At 10.3 inches in diameter and weighing only 3 pounds, it is an ideal addition to many types of vessels.

Three high-gain marine-grade antennas capture even weak WI-FI signals and amplify them for compatible onboard electronics and mobile devices. Two additional marine-grade, multi-band, omnidirectional 4G LTE antennas provide a boosted cellular signal when a boat is on the move or out of WI-FI range.

To meet the needs of today’s tech-savvy boaters and provide them with a practical, affordable mobile connectivity solution, the WF-200M comes with Winegard’s “pay-as-you-go” ConnecT 4G LTE data program — meaning there are no annual contracts, activation fees or monthly bills. To accommodate a range of needs and boating lifestyles, Winegard offers a range of affordable, pre-loaded data plans ranging from 1GB to 20GB. It’s easy for boaters to choose the pre-paid monthly data plan that makes sense for them using a credit card on the Winegard ConnecT WF-200M website.

“Whether their passion is sailing, cruising or fishing, today’s boaters live in an increasingly connected world,” said Winegard Marine Division Director David Quarders. “Whatever the reason is that we love boating, we all want the peace of mind and security that come from being able to stay in touch with friends, family and our lives back on shore. We also live in a world where we’re accustomed to enjoying our favorite entertainment wherever we go. Our technology makes this reliable, practical and affordable for boaters,” added Quarders.

The Winegard ConnecT WF-200M retails for $479, and is available through a network of authorized Winegard Marine dealers.
