Misty Harbor

Misty Harbor Biscayne Bay B-2585ST

September 2019 Boat Test Monday, Feature

First Glance
This latest offering from Misty Harbor clearly checks all the boxes. It’s comfortable yet stylish, has a great sound system and anytime you can reach speeds over 50 miles per hour it’s a good thing.

Details
We must confess, we love the interior color scheme with the tan vinyl and gray accents. It has a unique and high-end look while offering great lumbar support and overall comfort. In the bow are two chaise lounges with plenty of room to stretch out and below all the seat bases you have additional storage space. Of course this pontoon isn’t lacking in places to store your gear, thanks to the massive 7-foot-long in-floor ski locker that is over 20 inches deep.

At midship, the dual helm chairs provide identical comfort for both the captain and the first mate, although there isn’t a lot of room behind them before you meet the rear bench seats. Again, there is plenty of room to spread out in the stern and take advantage of the rear-facing chaise lounges, but if we had to be picky this aft section could use a couple of permanent cupholders. We counted six total for the boat, but not a single one in the back and with a 15-passenger capacity rating that could be a problem.

The four-step boarding ladder on the swim deck will get plenty of good use when you factor in the ski pylon on top of the wakeboard tower and the massive outboard on the back.

At the helm is an assortment of gauges with well-labeled toggle switches, plus access to the Kicker stereo unit. The boat has four speakers, a subwoofer and an amplifier, plus a large JBL sound bar mounted to the tower. It hangs a little low, but the tradeoff is a great-sounding stereo which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Closer Look
Three 25-inch diameter pontoons are the base of this boat with lifting strakes on both sides of the center tube and on the insides of the outer tubes. Plus for added performance, there is a full-length aluminum performance shield. Up top there are three lift-and-lock gates and the hammered powder-coated rail height around the perimeter is a very family-friendly height of nearly 28 inches tall.

There is over 21 feet of usable deck space between the gates on this 25-footer with a little extra room on the front deck and just enough room on the swim deck to towel off before coming onboard.

Throttle Down
With the SeaStar hydraulic steering she turns effortlessly in some very surprisingly sharp and flat turns. We put the throttle down on the Evinrude E-TEC G2 300 and were able to go from zero-to-20 mph in just over four seconds while reaching top speeds over 50 mph. Simply put, this pontoon doesn’t just look sporty with that wakeboard tower and modern style; it also delivers the performance!

Why Buy
We have to give credit to Misty Harbor for packing a lot into this floorplan. Words such as practical and functional tend to get a bad rap and are often mistaken as boring, but that’s simply not the case at all. This loaded pontoon just happens to be a very user-friendly model with comfortable seats and sporty look that is also a lot of fun to drive. We’re not sure what words can sum all of that up so for now we’ll just call it a Biscayne Bay.
