Sea Ray celebrates 60 years with Tellico employees

October 2019 News

This year, Sea Ray is celebrating 60 years of manufacturing the most globally recognized brand of boats in the marine industry. On Sept. 9 at the Sea Ray Tellico Manufacturing Facility in Vonore, Tenn., Sea Ray hosted its first 60th anniversary celebration with employees. Since its opening in 1983, the Tellico Manufacturing Facility has produced more than 160,000 boats.

“It’s important to celebrate milestones like the one we’re celebrating now with Sea Ray,” said Steve Langlais, Sea Ray president. “We kicked off our anniversary celebration in May with a dealer celebration event and are continuing that theme with our manufacturing centers in Tenn. and Fla.”

During the event, more than 600 employees enjoyed lunch, raffle prizes and a video highlighting the last 60 years. Having worked at the Tellico Manufacturing Facility for more than 25 years, 99 employees were honored for their dedication with a hand-written thank you card and a token of appreciation from Langlais.

“It’s a great brand, but it’s the dedication of the employees that truly differentiate this company from the other boat builders in the area,” said Kellie Hood, director of human resources for Sea Ray. “When you think about one out of every six people you meet have been with the company for at least 25 years, it’s quite astounding. And we’re always looking for new talent to join our team of the most passionate and best boat builders in the world. Those with experience have sign-on bonus opportunities, and of course, we’re always ready to train others. We offer a great benefits package and a competitive pay rate.”
