Avalon’s Waketoon Earns Innovation Award

True triple pontoon wakesurf boat debuts at Minneapolis

Avalon Pontoons took home top honors at the Minneapolis Boat Show tonight as it was announced that its new Waketoon has earned the prestigious NMMA Innovation Award in the pontoon category.

The industry’s first true wake `toon is a triple pontoon boat with no mono hull so it maintains the comfortable pontoon ride people have come to expect. The new patent pending pontoon design has an integrated rocker along with contoured wake plates to enable desirable waterflow.

Combined with the Volvo Penta Forward Drive (V8 I/O) – consisting of two forward-facing, counter-rotating props, with a unique variable trim – you can enhance the wake form by simply pulling the rear down. This eliminates the shore-damaging, heavy ballast tank systems that also degrades handling and you no longer have the time-consuming fill and drain process either.

“Wakesurf boats have been growing in popularity for over ten years now so it was just a matter of time until a traditional pontoon manufacturer figured it out,” said Chair Brady Kay, who oversaw the judging process. “I know others in this industry have attempted to create a wakesurf pontoon so it’s impressive Avalon was able to actually do it.”

Families who crave the comfort of a pontoon boat, but also like to wakesurf no longer need to choose between the two or own two separate boats. The Waketoon has the characteristics of a pontoon boat including a comfortable ride at all speeds, high speed capability, great wave handling, and room for the whole family while also being a dedicated wakesurf boat that can create the waves wakesurfers desire.

The all-around cruising boat with a wake shaping system creates the perfect wakesurfing wake that can even accommodate two surfers on both sides at the same time.

The Avalon Waketoon will be on display all weekend at the Minneapolis Boat Show at Dan’s Southside Marine booth near the center of the show.
