PDB TESTED GEARWRENCH

Published in the September 2021 Issue November 2023 Feature, PDB Tested Brady L. Kay

It’s important to keep a set of tools on board as well as in the shop or wherever you keep you boat; at least, that’s how I was able to justify investing in the latest from GEARWRENCH. It’s a name I trust when working on my own pontoon or other projects and with large hands like mine I’ll take any advantage I can get when trying to squeeze into those hard-to-reach places.

The 90-tooth platform with 66 new ratcheting wrenches is available in the two most popular styles – combination and flex-head combination – but for the record it’s not just about the number of teeth. The new GEARWRENCH ratcheting wrenches create a 4-degree swing arc to work in tighter spaces and the longer and thicker beams improve leverage and increase your comfort.

There are 36 open-stock combination ratcheting wrenches available in both metric and SAE sizes and I ended up going with the 10-piece Flex Head Ratcheting combo SAE set ($129) as well as the 10-piece Combination Ratcheting SAE Set ($89). Both range from 1/4-inch to 3/4-inch and come with a wrench rack to stay organized.

I like the heavy-duty feel of each wrench in my hand as well as the reach they provide, and for the price they’re hard to beat.
