Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation Compiles Resources for Hispanic Heritage Month

October 2021 News

Hispanic participation in fishing continues to grow. During Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15), the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) is celebrating the growth and inclusion of Hispanic anglers.

Last year, 4.8 million Hispanics went fishing, a year-over-year increase of 8% according to the 2021 Special Report on Fishing. Furthermore, half of Hispanic participants said they would like to fish even more often than they currently do.

RBFF and its Vamos A Pescar brand have compiled resources to help the industry connect with Hispanic audiences and celebrate their fishing participation during Hispanic Heritage Month. The resources include:

In 2014, the George H. W. Bush Vamos A Pescar Education Fund was created with a donation from Bass Pro Shops Founder and CEO Johnny Morris. The grant program helps fund state and local initiatives that focus on engaging Hispanic families in fishing, boating, and conservation activities. Learn about the 2021 recipients here.

Additionally, multiple state agencies have used funds from RBFF’s State R3 Program Grants to target Hispanic communities and increase fishing participation. Explore the case studies:
