PDB Tested: PinUltimate Quick-Release Hitch Pin

Secure and remove your hitch faster and easier than ever

Not locking the receiver hitch on my truck is not an option; there are just too many thieves out there. However, the new all-titanium PinUltimate Quick-Release Hitch Pin goes beyond security. It also allows you to remove your hitch faster and easier than ever.

If you're still using the basic hitch pin that came with your hitch – you know, those steel rods that are secured by clumsy “R-clips” that are a pain to take on or off – you should pay attention.

We recently tested the PinUltimate with a ConnecTrick push-button and were surprised by how easy it was to use. You simply depress the ergonomically positioned thumb button and positive locking balls that protrude from the shaft release the cap on the opposite end. With the cap removed, the pin is free to slide in or out.

To re-attach the cap, just depress the thumb button and push the cap back in place. It's that simple. We especially like that it takes just seconds and can be easily done in tight quarters and of course it is way easier than using R-clips.

The pin itself is made of premium, heat-treated titanium so no worries if it's exposed to saltwater or road salt. The handle is ergonomically designed and fully CNC-machined from aircraft-grade billet aluminum and then treated with a special UV resistant “power red” Cerakote finish formulated specifically for PinUltimate to further protect it from the elements.

The PinUltimate hitch pin retails for $199.95 and is not only 100 percent made in the USA but uses components that are 100 percent made in the USA as well. It comes with a key so the hitch pin can be fully secured and it is backed by a lifetime warranty with a 90-day performance guarantee. PinUltimate is available in a standard 5/8-inch Pin; it fits Class III, IV and V hitches.
