TRI Toon addition

I have two questions : I have a 1998 30' Suntracker Party Hut and adding a third log . My dilemma is the Suntracker Rep stated that I should place the third log at least 18 " back from the two outer logs. And do I make all three logs even on the bottom or do you push the middle log down 3 or 4 " . To me it seems as if you are creating a teeter totter affect by not keeping them level .

I have seen a few Tracker pontoons with a stabilizer log in the center. It looks to be about 10 feet long, maybe a little shorter, and is set back in between the outer logs by about 2 feet. I don't think 4 inches deeper on the center log will be felt on the boat at all.

If you are looking to just keep the bow of your boat up I would put it wherever you want to. I put a 14 foot center log on my 20 foot boat and it did a lot to stabilize the boat underway, but did not improve performance. Mine is even with the other two. I contacted the engineers at Tracker to see about adding a longer 3rd `toon to my `94 Party Cruiser & it turned out to not be a good idea. My 3rd log (actually it's only about 2/5ths of a toon) sits about 6" higher than the outer ones which if lowered, would put my engine too low in the water (it's mounted as high as possible) so you might want to consider that. Lengthening my 3rd log would also affect the fwd/rr weight & balance. Most of my weight is in the rear 1/2 of the boat so if everyone went into the cabin (rain causes this) my front end would ride really high but it would cause the rear end to ride even lower since I couldn't lower the 3rd log. That could cause water to get into the engine, drowning it, which is not desirable in inclement weather. On a nice day with most people on the front deck, it'd cause my boat to ride level (which is what I wanted), but one has to think of every situation.

And then I'd also have to alter the trailer to accommodate the alteration. Pretty much I just gave up on the idea. Your boat is a different situation, so I cannot comment on it, just saying what my situation was/is. If anything helps, great, if not I've only wasted some surplus verbiage. Which I got cheap at a yard sale anyway, and am still trying to use up. (I have boxes of spare adjectives, pronouns & a few assorted infinitives to get rid of, so if you know of anyone who's looking send them my way. I'll even throw in a few dozen punctuation marks with every order if they order before midnight tonight.)
