Tracker Marine says cutbacks are temporary

July 2008 News

Tracker did not say how much it is cutting back, but because of the current business outlook, its boat plants have "adjusted production forecasts and staffing in our general office accordingly," according to a report in the Springfield News-Leader.

The company did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

The statement to the newspaper also said the adjustment is expected to be temporary, saying "we look forward to bringing as many of our associates as possible back" in the future.

Tracker Marine also pointed to gas prices and weather conditions as a cause for its slowdown. Heavy rains in many parts of the Midwest as well as continued drought to the Southeast did not help.
